Duke releases 2022 calendar – Duke University

DURHAM – Duke Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach John Danowski announced the 2022 schedule. The Blue Devils open the season on February 4 in Durham and will play a total of 10 home games at Koskinen Stadium.

A slate lasts in 2022
The 2022 roster includes eight of the 15 teams from the 2021 NCAA Tournament and nine of Nike magazine / USA Lacrosse magazine’s top 20 preseason teams. Duke, arriving at No.3, has clashes against five of the top nine teams in the poll. . The Blue Devils also face High Point and Richmond, who received Special Mention as teams just outside the top 20.

A month of February full of action
Duke will play seven high-ranking games in February, the first six at Durham in 19 days. The Blue Devils are 70-17 in February, but have never played more than five games during the month.

Duke opens the year with a weekend against Robert Morris and the defending America East champion and Vermont’s No.19 preseason on February 4 and 6, respectively. The following weekend, Duke hosted Manhattan and Jacksonville at Koskinen Stadium before hosting No.12 Denver on February 19.

The Blue Devils are 9-6 against the Pioneers and have four straight wins with a total of just eight goals. Denver’s last victory at Durham was a 14-12 triumph in 2013.

Duke shuts down his February team against Delaware on February 22. Game includes return of current Blue Hen head coach Ben DeLuca, who served as an assistant coach for the Blue Devils in 2014. It will be the first game between the two since an NCAA tournament in 2011 in Durham.

The Blue Devils first hit the road to take on the Ivy League foe and preseason No.9 Penn on February 26. Penn returns to the field for the first time since the spring of 2020 after the Ivy League did not play in 2021 due to COVID-19.

The program slows down and the ACC game starts in March
After playing seven games in 23 days, Duke is slowing down to one game a week in March. The Blue Devils travel to High Point for a clash on March 1 before returning to host Richmond on March 5. Duke ends the month on the road making trips to play No.7 Loyola, Towson and No.14 Syracuse.

The Blue Devils face Loyola for the 23rd consecutive year, dating back to an 11-10 victory over the Greyhounds in 2000. Duke is 18-7 against the Greyhounds in 22 years and 15-6 in regular season games.
The 2021 season was the first time the two had not played in the regular season since 1999, instead meeting in an exciting NCAA quarterfinal that saw Duke beat Loyola, 10-9, in overtime.

Duke begins the conference match on March 26 at No.14 Syracuse for a 2 p.m. game at Carrier Dome. The Blue Devils, 7-13 overall against the Oranges, are looking for their first win over Syracuse.

North Carolina, Notre Dame and Virginie Oh My

The months of April and May will be filled with Tar Heels, Irish and Cavaliers. Duke faces North Carolina and Notre Dame twice and welcomes Virginia for just one game.

The Blue Devils start April with a short trip to Chapel Hill to face the No.6 North Carolina. Duke aims to avenge Kenan’s stadium setback in 2021. Duke returns home for a three-game homestand featuring Notre Dame, Virginia and North Carolina.

The Blue Devils parted ways with the Tar Heels and the Irish last year and edged Virginia on the road. Duke hasn’t lost to the Cavaliers in the regular season since 2004.
